Can Altidore turn it around for the World Cup? — USA Soccer Stud

U.S. forward Jozy Altidore struggled for his club team this year, leaving some to wonder if he’s still capable of helping his national team at the World Cup this summer.

“Coach Bradley goes into soccer’s greatest tournament with a first-choice forward who has managed just two goals this season and who failed to lock down a permanent starting role with one of the worst sides in the EPL,” notes Yahoo’s Martin Rogers. “Yet barring an untimely injury in the lead-up to South Africa, Altidore will be the one who leads the line for the U.S. at the World Cup with his young shoulders carrying the bulk of the team’s attacking responsibility.”

As the above video shows, Altidore has more than enough raw strength and skill to score goals. But his recent funk is anything but encouraging.
