U.S. Soccer breathed a collective sigh of relief today, after it was revealed that goalie Tim Howard had merely bruised his ribs against England, as opposed to breaking them (as was originally feared).

“When you see the way Timmy handled himself after the collision last night, you’d certainly expect he’ll be on the field again,” United States coach Bob Bradley said, adding that Howard has made “substantial improvement” since losing a fight with Emile Heskey’s cleats in the 29th minute of play.

The U.S. face Slovenia at 10 am Eastern (ESPN, Univision) on Friday for a much-needed victory after tying England.
